We kept being turned down by the state department for the senior food voucher program - so we decided to do one ourselves.

With three sponsors each contributing $200, the Thompson Falls Market and our council on aging launched a program where senior citizens can arrange for a community bus to pick them up at their home or community center and bring them to the market.

Once they arrive, they are greeted and given $5 in "Market Money" which they can spend on any consumable items.

We also added ADA port-o-lets and lots of seating.

The goal?

Increase sales for the vendors while getting our seniors out and about in the community accessing healthy local foods.

So far we have new seniors joining us each week and the word is spreading.
