eating local I never thought I would see they day where I enjoyed eating a pickle. I always thought I hated pickles. I remember trying them when I was little and disliking the flavor and avoided them ever since. I just assumed I would hate them forever. It turns out I am wrong! I tried a pickle the other day and was pleasantly surprised by how much I liked it! This has been happening to me a lot lately... coleslaw, sushi, mustard, etc. I guess taste buds really do change!

Knowing that I do indeed like pickles made my trip to the Reston Farmers Market a little bit different this morning. I stopped by the Fresh Crunch Pickles stand and sampled their different varieties! Sweet Dill, Sour Dill, Bread and Butter... I had so many to choose from! There was more than just the traditional cucumber pickle, too. Cabbage, carrots, beans... anything can be pickled! After an internal deliberation I decided the sour dill was the choice for me. As soon as I got home I made a delicious lunch and a few of the pickles found their way onto my sandwich.

Buying local foods has been an adventure for me thus far. I never really understood the importance of it until this summer and so I never really tried to buy as local as possible. Now that I have started, I have found foods that I like, that I dislike, and that I'm looking forward to trying. I'm glad that Fresh Crunch Pickles was able to make it onto my list of new, local foods that I enjoy!

If you would like to try some of Fresh Crunch Pickles different varieties of pickled vegetables, visit them at your local farmers market!
