As a means of fundraising to support their sustainable small farm operation in Winterville, the Roots Farm hosts a mid-summer dinner called the “Beaverton Slowdown”. They invite the community to come sit back, relax and enjoy a delicious dinner of local foods, from local growers, cooked by local chefs! Participating in the slowdown allows you to experience food right from the source, while meeting the great people who grew it.
The slowdown dinner is just one of the ways Roots Farm is working to build a vital connection between food and the community. They know that the health of our bodies and minds is deeply intertwined with the health of the land and environment. The farm works hard to produce healthy fresh foods that will nourish the relationship between humans and the earth that sustains us.
Growing on 13 acres just outside of Athens, Georgia, Roots Farm grows fruits and vegetables throughout most of the year. They utilize sustainable farming methods to preserve the quality of the produce and ensure all the health benefits remain intact. To get these great foods, you can buy shares in their popular CSA program, that remains available through October/November each year. You can also look for their booth at a local farmers market, Atlanta.
Build connections to growing green and eating clean at Roots Farm.
