You've probably heard the terms "urban agriculture" and "suburban farm" popping up more and more recently as folks start backyard or even patio or balcony gardens and build chicken coops for the fresh eggs. Curious Farm is actually one of the bigger suburban farms around at a whopping two-thirds of an acre. Cathy & David Smith are the farmers here at Curious Farm, in the Cedar Mill area of Portland, Oregon. Here you'll find natural organic products such as "beyond free range" chicken eggs, cucumber pickles, kimchi, sauerkraut, and even beet kvass. One thing that makes their pickles so amazing is that they're made the old school way - without vinegar in the brine - just time, spices, salt and lots of love.
See all the natural organic products from Curious Farm at the Beaverton Farmers Market and if you're curious, you can read more about this urban agriculture operation online at www.curiousfarm.com. The folks here are even planning to start offering classes so you can learn how to make your own sauerkraut, kimchi and pickles too.
