Tyner Pond Farm is named after Elijah Tyner who was one of the first settlers here in Blue River Township back in 1802. He was really successful as a farmer and merchant and I'm hoping that by honoring him some of that good fortune will rub off on us!
Our farm is located near Greenfield Indiana, in Hancock County. Our focus is the slow food movement. We provide a place where animals grow slowly....happily, the way nature intended.
The result is beef, chicken and pork that is probably healthier than you have ever had before & tastes like nothing you have tried before. Food like your Grandparents used to eat.
So read on as we discuss how we raise our Grass Fed Wagyu, real free range the chickens and let our pigs roam the pasture & woods.
Aother new research paper supports what Anti-Farm Animal
Confinement Advocates have been saying for years.
Confined Pigs are Breeding Superbugs.
Published this month by the American Society of Microbiology,
the study confirms that MIRSA resistant to antibiotics
are being developed in confined pigs being fed regular low doses of
antibiotics:
"Modern food animal production is
characterized by densely concentrated animals and routine
antibiotic use, which may facilitate the emergence of...
I'm wondering what the 'appitite' might be for a local screening
of the movie "Fresh". You can
see the trailer below and I think it's an important statement that
helps us all define the Slow Food Movement and why supporting local
food systems is so critical.
Let me know your thoughts after viewing the trailer here
below..
So I think pigs like to be outside. We've had a
pretty warm winter this year without a lot of snow so I was curious
to see how our Large Black pigs would take to a recent
dusting. Well, they loved it :-)
Joel Salatin talks about allowing Pigs to express their
Piggishness (or something like that) The idea is to
allow them to express their desired natural behavior. In that
vien, we give them a warm place to sleep and an open door every
day. Some days they don't go out at all, other...
I wanted to share this note from
Pogue's Run Grocer, a key
partner in our Local Food System....
Dear Indy Food Co-op Member,
We are writing to let you know that Alan Walker, one of the
friendly faces you see at the register, experienced a tragedy this
week. Monday morning his home burned and he is left with very
little. Aside from being shook up, Alan is ok.
Alan is a talented musician, a joyful person with a great
disposition. Although he is a man of pride and self-respect, he is
greatly in need...
Thank you so much for joining our 'family'.
We work hard (and love it) nurturing our animals and
produce to bring the best all natural food from our farm to your
plate.
Local Food Systems survive by the support of people like you who
consume locally produced food and help spread the word by sharing
through Facebook and Twitter.
If you like what we do, we encourage you to click the share
buttons at the top of this note...
Stay on top of all the activity going on here at our Farm.
Keep up with our Free Range Pork, Grass Fed Chicken and Wagyu Cows
as they enjoy their life here and get ready for their
destiny...your plate.
We'll send weekly email letting you know what's going on here at
the farm as well as locavore news from all over. You
will also find out what products are available and where you can
find them.
I wanted to share this email

As the old saying goes..."sometimes it is better to be lucky
than good". Last week I was speaking at a marketing
conference on Whidbey Island in the state of
Washington. I had no idea what to expect and was
frankly blown away by the beauty, the people and for lack of a
better word...the pace of this amazing island just a short ferry
ride from Seattle.
